Steamed rice dumplings in meat gravy step by step

  1. Clean and wash rice then soak in hot water for 4 – 5 hours. Then drain the water completely..
  2. Add this to a grinder along with fennel seeds, shallots, grated coconut salt and littile water..
  3. Grind into a semi coarse dough. If the dough is too loose add littile roasted rice flour and knead well..
  4. Apply littile oil into your hands and make very small coin size balls out of it..
  5. Then slightly press the centre of dumplings..
  6. Do it till you finish all the dough. Then place the dumplings on a banana leaf or aluminium foil and steam cook approximately 15 minutes..
  7. Switch off the stove and keep it aside..
  8. Clean and cut the beef or mutton into small pieces, wash well and drain completely..
  9. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, then add onions and greenchilli, saute well until onions become soft..
  10. Then add tomatoes, crushed ginger garlic, saute well until tomatoes become soft..
  11. Then add cloves, cardamom, turmeric powder, redchilli powder, coriander powder and saute well..
  12. Then add cleaned beef and salt, stir well, add littile water and pressure cook (4 or 5 whistle)..
  13. Mean time heat oil in another pan, add grated coconut, shallots, fennel seeds, then saute until it become brown. Grind this into smooth paste and add this ground paste to the curry..
  14. Mix well and cook for few more minutes. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well..
  15. Then add steamed rice dumplings into it, mix well and cook in a medium flame for 10 minutes and add some curry leaves and mix well..
  16. Switch off the flame. Serve hot !.
